ATTENTION  CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS:

With the wide variety of quality courses available for continuing education, many certifying organizations, including ACE, allow their instructors to earn credits through a Petition Process. This means that even though a course is not formally "approved" by specific certifying organizations, they will still accept it for credits when submitted with documentation such as a description, outline, and author biography. All courses on this page offer a certificate of completion with a full description and outline to aid instructors in using the Petition Process. Any other documentation needed to obtain continuing education credits for these courses will be happily provided by BodyBasics Fitness Training.

Why Try Correspondence Courses?

Training, certification, and continuing education for fitness instructors is a necessary and rewarding part of being a fitness professional. Correspondence courses are a convenient and cost-effective way to obtain needed education. Across all educational and career fields, learning at home is widely recognized, with many correspondence schools and colleges being accredited by the most respected organizations.

Correspondence courses allow the student to study at times that fit into his or her personal schedule and at an individual pace. This is helpful to those who have many obligations such as other jobs, family, and personal activities. The expense of a distance learning course is often much lower than attending training workshops in person.

Tips on Taking Correspondence Courses:

  1. Good study habits are formed by scheduling a specific time each day to study and work on assignments.
  2. Contact the instructor or organization if you have a question about an assignment. They are happy to help you succeed.
  3. Use a good English composition textbook to help you write papers.
  4. Type or word-process written assignments for readability.

Tips on Test Taking:

  1. Initially scan through the questions and answer the ones you know immediately. Even with open book tests, go through the test "closed book" to see how much you have really learned.
  2. Re-read each question you have not answered. Eliminate the choices that are definitely wrong and use reason on the remaining choices. If you have studied the material, you should be able to choose the correct answer. This is the time to spend doing any necessary mathematical calculations. Continue to skip questions you are totally unsure about. Somewhere in the test, you may find other questions about the same subjects and you may be able to figure out the answers.
  3. Finally, answer the questions you are totally unsure of. Make the best choice you can. It is usually better to choose an answer than not choose one because you have a chance of making the right one. A hint about changing answers: Do it only if you absolutely know you've chosen the wrong one. Usually the "gut level feeling" you have the first time you read a question is right.

BodyBasics and NAFC offer correspondence courses that use a combination of learning methods. By offering a variety of assignment types: reading, practice exercise assignments, written papers, and tests, the student retains the knowledge better. Many of the courses use open book final exams. The NAFC Certification final exams require the student to find a testing site, such as a library, and a proctor to administer the tests, such as the librarian.

Distance learning with correspondence courses from BodyBasics and NAFC are enjoyable, effective educational opportunities. Make your order today and begin a rewarding professional journey.
